Spent about 3 hours trying to find decent fares to San Diego to go see my sister next week, but the only ones that I could find that worked time and date wise started at about $400 (okay, so I found one for $393, but it got in at 11:30PM - not the best time to be dragging an almost 2 year-old to the airport to pick up an auntie). So I talked to Jenn this morning and told her I just couldn't ask dad to pay that much and I couldn't go the week after that 'cause school's starting and she was really great, said she'd probably prefer to just have some alone time after (ex)hubby leaves and before sister #4 arrives the following week. I told her I'd find another time later on to come out - told her she now has a free "Get out here now, I need to see you" card.

She sounded very good, doing well, going to get highlights put in her hair today. Her (ex)hubby is really trying to be a decent guy about this - not that he wasn't jerky for doing it this way, but he's been good about working with her (on moving out of the house, adjusting his requests for things), is buying her a couch and a dining room set and a TV and a DVD player because he knows she sold/gave away so much of her stuff when they moved in together, told her she can take anything she wants from the house, etc, etc. They actually had dinner out together last night. She was heading out to grab a bite with the baby - thinking he was going to be hiking - and he pulled in and looked very sad, so she took a deep breath and asked if he wanted to join them. He asked a couple of times if she was sure, if it was going to be okay, and she said yes. She said it certainly wasn't a happy joyful evening, but it was okay. They're both working very hard to try and make this as easy as possible - see if they can still maintain a semi-friendly relationship 'cause that will be best for the baby (and honestly, easier for them too).

So, I feel relieved and better about not going out there.

In other news, my cat bit me today at the vet's. Quite badly. I've had her for 11 years and she's never so much as scratched me. It was quite a shock. And while I know she's older and grouchy and these things happen and I'm not really hurt, I still cried all the way home. It was just too much for this week. At least I didn't break down and sob at the vet's - though I did try and hide being all teary.

When does Mercury get out of retrograde again?

Well, things certainly sound better with your sister and hubby than the last post. And it will be better for the baby if they can manage to get along.

I can totally imagine how you feel about the cat bite! If Cassie did that to me, I'd be so upset. But as you said, these things do happen as they get older and grouchy. Some weeks it's just harder to take than others.

Yes, I hope things keep going pretty well out there.

The bite was just such a shock. I'm ignoring her now, but I'm sure she feels badly as well - she's always been *so* gentle with me. Even when we play "rough", at most I'll be left with a faint line or two on my hands. This was just so... not her. And then I was scared that it meant maybe something was really wrong with her, but the vet says she's all good. And told Kachina she should apologize to her mommy because what she did was very mean. ;)

Thanks. *hugs back*

What exactly is the difference between 400 and 393, you geek?

You are the third person my flist to mention Mercury. What's up with that?

My (sarcastic) point, exactly!

As for Mercury, my horror-scope says that it's currently in retrograde, which supposedly means that everything is just going to be difficult and not really seem to go the way you want it. Or something like that. ;)
