Janis Ian

Just got back from a fabulous concert by Janis Ian. It was just... amazing. Such a voice and such powerful words. And such a sense of humor! We were all enthralled. Two hours went by like 20 minutes and suddenly she did this deep bow and off she went. She came back to do an encore, after joking that she'd planned to sing Kumbaya, and sang an incredibly sad and beautiful song called "Jesse" that had my mom in tears. Then she said she was going to indulge herself since we seemed a forgiving crowd and end with a song we could all sing together with only 4 syllables in the chorus. And proceeded to jump into "I Got You Babe" with a wicked smile. We all laughed and cried and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

And my god is she WEE! I think she'd make even poohmusings look big! She looks tiny on stage and then she comes down off stage to sign autographs and you're just stunned to find that she's even smaller up close!

Anyhow, fabulous evening and I'm so glad I went.
