Batman Begins - no spoilers
Jun. 24th, 2005 04:35 pmUnless you consider cast members spoilers...
First of all, I must say I have never been a comic book fan - Neil Gaiman's Sandman stuff which I read and bought once it was collected into books, being the exception. I have never watched one of the Batman movies before. I do not know the whole mythology, background, whatever behind it. Therefore, I can't comment on how faithful it might be or how die-hard Batman fans might feel about it.
I went to see the movie because the previews actually looked fascinating, I happened to be driving past a good movie theatre about the time I knew it was showing, and it was hot as hell outside. Oh yeah, and there was the little matter of the cast. So, Christian Bale I don't know from Adam (though, good gods do I love him now!), but come on! Michael Caine. Liam Neeson. Gary Oldman. Tom Wilkerson. Rutger Hauer. Ken Watanabe. Morgan Freeman. How could this not have been fabulous to watch even if the movie was horrendous??
And it wasn't. I really enjoyed the movie immensely. It all just *worked* for me. And I highly recommend it. :)
