1) Why do you work with the kind of kids you do?

It was an accident. Totally and completely an accident. They were the one group of special needs kids out of all the ones that I'd worked with in high school and college that I absolutely hated. So when I went to my first job fair I thought that talking to the people at the school I currently work with would be perfect. I knew the population, knew I'd never work with them, so I figured it would be a perfect first interview. I didn't want to work there so I wasn't nervous.

They liked me, asked me to come interview at the school and again, see above, I thought it would be a perfect stress free practice interview. And somehow I fell in love with the program and the kids and accepted the job on the spot.

It will be 19 years on June 5th.

2) What's one role you've never played but really, really want to?

I'd love to rewrite the Canadian movie "External Affairs" as a play and do the part of the wife. She's a wonderfully complex woman, dealing with the early stages of Alzheimer's, a complicated tragedy, and the knowledge that it was because of her love for her husband that she made a mistake that has ruined his career. It's a beautifully deep character.

3) What's your current favorite song and why?

Hmmm... There are so many. Right this second I'm going with Days Like These by Janis Ian (Youtube of Sister Mary Pete from OZ singing part of it is here. It's just a beautiful song about life not being quite what you want but hanging in anyway. The chorus goes: But you can't reap what you don't sow, and you can't plant in hallowed ground, so let us fill this empty world with hope until the rains come down. It's definitely a favorite of mine to sing.

4) What's one fandom a lot of your friends/friendslist have gotten into but you just *can't* see the appeal in?

Torchwood and Doctor Who. I have tried, but I do not get the Captain Jack love. Okay, I admit, Doctor Who was huge among my high school and college friends way back in the *cough*eighties*cough* dark ages and I utterly hated it then and refused to watch it. That hasn't changed. I did try watching part of two eps which had Jack in them and I absolutely hated him. To the point where I stopped watching mid-ep both times because I had a character RP friendship with a Jack at FH and just adored him and their friendship and I was worried if I watched any more that it would completely ruin those memories for me.


5) If your next pet had to be something other than a cat, what would it be?

A dog. I love dogs. *covers my cats's ears* I love them far more than cats. But, I am very busy and often never home and I couldn't adequately care for a large dog - what with the RA precluding long walks and lots of running around. And I don't like small dogs, so...
