Dec. 29th, 2004 03:17 pmMy mother, yesterday, in front of my 8 year-old-niece (Danielle), invited my niece to have a sleepover at my house tonight. And to then come with me to the Storytime thing I'm doing at Barnes and Noble tomorrow.
Without asking me first.
So my dear niece is thrilled all to pieces and looking at me hopefully, so what can I do except agree? So... my niece is coming to sleepover tonight, despite the fact that I still can't shake this damn cold and I haven't slept in four nights and I have to be at Barnes and Noble tomorrow for 9AM and will have to watch her/find a way for her to amuse herself while we set up to do the story thing. Luckily she's a good kid and will hopefully be able to be mellow with me tonight and tomorrow (and then I'll get her all wound up 'cause she's sleeping over at Mom's *tomorrow* night - just kidding).
My sister feels terrible and told me she can explain to Danielle that I don't feel good and all if I don't feel up to it, but I hate to disappoint Danielle. She's had way too many disappointments in her little life already. And between my houseguests this summer and my being sick since April, I haven't had her for a sleepover in a very long time.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
