What a Day!

lisayaeger said, today definitely felt more like a Monday than a Tuesday. Which will be nice if I get to Friday and think it's still Thursday, but...
My aide didn't show up this morning. I was a little confused and annoyed till my boss played her voice messages and found that my aide's father died suddenly over the weekend of a heart attack and she and her fiance (who is also an aide at the school) are on their way to Texas. Poor thing. She's only 21. I can't imagine losing my dad that young.
So, had a meeting first thing this morning and ended up leaving the class with my student teacher - poor thing! And had a meeting at lunch so she got to eat alone with the class too - *very* poor thing. Though, I threatened them with death and worse (loss of recess and writing assignments on top of that) if they weren't good, so they were. And she taught a lesson this afternoon in which they were all incredibly hyper - *super* poor thing. Then I had a meeting right at the end of school today. In between all of this I managed to grade all my papers, write two reports and put out half a dozen little 'fires'. Sigh... It's actually as much of a pain for me to be out of the room so much as it is for someone to be alone *in* the room with the kids - there's *so* much to catch up with when you get back.
Anyway, my aide and her fiance will be out all week. Leaving us down to two aides in the school. Next week is vacation and the week we return she is on active duty training for the air force reserves.
My student teacher leaves tomorrow early for Honduras for a church mission thing. Very cool. But, of course, with no aide coming in it's too bad she won't be here.
My really easy week just got much more complicated. Oh well, next week is vacation. Yahoo!
