Did 3 loads of laundry, scrubbed 2 bathrooms, stripped and re-made 2 beds, cleaned the kitchen, purged the frig, straightened the living room, dining room and my bedroom, tied up sunflower stalks in the garden, unclogged a slow drain, took the garbage out, organized and packed my stuff, paid bills, made a list of what I need to do in the morning before I leave/on my way up to Maine, left a list for my mom of how/what to feed the cat and how to change the tape in my VCR on Sunday morning (she says maybe she'll bring my sister along and have her change the tape) and now I'm *tired*.
I leave tomorrow morning for a 6 day seminar on Modern Japan. Although why they call it Modern Japan when it covers the period from about 1878 to 1945, I don't know. In my head I call it Kind of Semi-Modern Japan. I really love Japan and Japanese history/religious studies, so I hope the emphasis will actually *be* on Japan and not on the Russo-Japanese war and the Portsmouth Peace Treaty of 1905, which is what all of our required pre-reading was about. Interesting stuff, but not something I'd choose to spend 6 days studying in depth.
We are supposed to learn some Japanese wood carving and participate in an actual tea ceremony, though, so I'm looking forward to all of that. (And a harbor cruise Sunday night. *happy sigh* I love being out on the ocean.)
I had a lot more written, but it got eaten and I'm too tired to try and remember all the rest. So, bye, I'll catch up with you all on Wednesday night or Thursday as I don't think I'll have much (if any) internet access while I'm away.
Take care!
