Quick Update
Sep. 1st, 2005 10:58 pmFirst week of school went well.
I am saddened, horrified, and numb over Katrina.
Didn't get the part in 'night, Mother. Probably just as well - don't know that I'm up to having that much darkness being that huge a part of my life right now. Oh well, such is life.
I'm like 10 episodes away from having seen all of the first 5 seasons of Law and Order: SVU - not bad for only beginning to watch at the beginning of the summer, eh?
I will be able to spend the next four days being pretty much completely selfish - my parents and 2 of my three sisters will be out of town and busy with their own stuff, my third sister's ex will have the kids and she will be busy with her friends, I'm all caught up with work, nothing needs doing over the weekend... I can just take some time for me. Which will be really nice. First time since mid-July that I've been able to say that.
And it will be good to have a few days to get my head and center back together before we jump back into the "real" beginning of school. The first week (only three days) is more group work, setting behavioral expectations, class/team building... Now we get into the real bookwork and start running smack up against my kids' problems. From here on in I become the teacher they hate for a while as I start making them do all the stuff they don't want to. (They're not in our program because they love school!) But it's all worth it in the end. :)
Okay, off to bed.
