So... it looks as if I will most likely be flying to California this weekend to see my sister (#3) - whose husband sprung divorce papers on her last week as an early birthday present. It is her birthday Saturday and though she really doesn't want anyone to come down - because it's just too hard and because he is still living in the house and won't leave (she's moving to a condo, which she and my parents own jointly, at the end of the month) - she knows there's only so long she can keep my mom away. So my dad asked if I would be willing to go with my mom. I'm pretty calm and soothing and I can help keep my mom calmer as well. (In fact, high praise from sister #3, she said if mom needed to come she'd rather have me come with her than anyone else - even preferable to my dad - because things would go more smoothly.)
Dad's trying to get some last minute relatively inexpensive tickets and will let me know what they come up with.
I called sister #3 to see how she felt about this and see if she wanted me to try and get mom not to come. That's when she said she knew she couldn't keep mom away for long so it was okay, but *please* could we make it a short visit. I told her mom wanted to fly in Friday and out Monday - which given flights would really only have us there for about 2 and a half days - and Jenn said that would be good.
We'll see what happens.
