maisfeeka"Interesting" evening. Our play didn't *exactly* go up today.
See, we're doing it outside in the park. And while it was very nice up to about 5PM, when we actually started setting up and getting ready to go it started pouring.
Which is very bad for the sound system and very dangerous to have huge lights and electrical cords out in. So we pulled plugs, brought in the light equipment , covered the sound system with a tarp and hoped for the best. We were supposed to start the show at 7:30 and at about 7 it cleared up enough that we re-set everything, only to have the skies open in a torrential downpour about 7:20. So we trekked everything away again and decided that we had to give lights and sound a miss for the evening (and since it's outdoors, with no lights on it starts getting dark around 8:45 and no one would be able to see the actors except as dim figures after that.
But, we figured we at least needed to run the show as a rehearsal if nothing else and there were a group of hardy theatre-goers up by the stage tucked under their umbrellas, so we went with it. No sound, no lights (till intermission when it had stopped raining and we were able to at least turn on some lights so the actors could be seen), but we got through it and everyone seemed to like it. I'm told there were 15 audience members, but I'm not sure that didn't include the 7 of us Yellow Taxi people/crew who were sitting out watching because we had no jobs to do.
So, we'll try again tomorrow. *shakes head* Such is live theatre - especially live *outdoor* theatre!
