Question Meme
Jul. 12th, 2007 12:37 am1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
Here's what I was asked...
From
mountainthyme:
1. What ingredients go into the best kind of grilled cheese sandwich?
My mom's grilled cheese is the absolute best and I tend to be a purist. Plain white bread, a dab of butter to grill it with and cheese. That's it. :)
2. What's your favorite thing to do when it rains?
I love to curl up in bed or on the couch with my cat and a good book.
3. What one historical figure would you like to be able to meet?
There are so many! Maybe... Mother Teresa.
4. What would you do if you won the lottery today?
Cheer! Then pay off all my bills and my family's bills and all of our houses/condos whatever, set up college funds for my three nieces, donate a bunch to charity (including the place I work and the theater companies I work with), buy some books and turn one of my extra rooms into a library (since I won't need a roommate anymore), maybe travel a bit (Japan, Ireland, Portugal, Prague, Vienna, etc...), and tuck the rest away for a rainy day. Yes, I'd still keep my job.
5. When socks get lost in the dryer, where do they go?
They go through a metamorphosis and change into coat hangers, thus solving the mystery of how they seem to magically replicate.
From

1. What was the best part you've ever played?
I loved playing Miss Abby in Arsenic and Old Lace - twice. Especially getting to work with my best friend playing Miss Martha. However, playing Nana in For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again was probably the best overall role thus far. Although... the play I'm currently working on? I'm playing the character of Matilda in Indoor/Outdoor and that may end up being my new favorite. Plus it gets me nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Professional Drama for the next NH Theatre Awards. Always cool!
2. What was the funniest thing one of your students ever did or said to you?
One of my students came in on a Monday and told me that he'd seen some documentary about how food got to the table and he'd decided that he was going to be a vegetarian from now on. We got to lunch and I realized that they were serving hamburgers so once we were all seated (each class eats at one table family style) I told him I'd get him a peanut butter and jelly or something. He gave me this weird look as he grabbed a burger and asked me why I wanted to do that. I reminded him of the whole vegetarian thing and he looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Well, yeah, but not like at mealtimes!"
3. Name three fannish characters you'd love to meet in real life.
Like characters from shows? Rodney McKay, largely because he wouldn't know what to make of me. Michael Garibaldi, 'cause really, what an incredible guy to hang out with. And... Mr. Spock, 'cause, well, Vulcan and the ultimate in cool.
4. What food can you simply not live without right now?
Right now? Hmmm... No one food, but things with melted cheese. Quesadillas, grilled cheese, the evil mozzarella cheese sticks, etc.
5. What was your biggest OMGWTF! moment in fandom?
People freaking out because J.K. Rowling "screwed them over" by not "admitting" that Sirius Black and Remus Lupin were lovers and that she "owed it" to the gay community to write them that way because she had the opportunity to make a great statement.
I'm sorry. As an author you get to write what your muses say. She's canon, not the fans. Lupin and Tonks, Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione. Get over it, everyone. You want it your way, that's fine, write your own fanfiction, but no bashing the ultimate creator of the characters because 'she got it all wrong'. They're hers.
That was fun!

Date: 2007-07-12 07:06 am (UTC)It's "Martyr Tydfil" and not "Saint Tydfil" because she stayed dead, unlike Saint Winfride, and nothing particularly interesting happened in that place other then the founding of the town.

5)What would your dream vacation be like if money were no issue?
Re: Some fun lyrics. :)
Date: 2007-07-12 02:55 pm (UTC)I have a recurring 'nightmare'. It's not scary monsters, people dying, wake up screaming kind of nightmare but it always leaves me shaken up. I'm driving somewhere - usually home, and something obstructs my vision. Sometimes it's snow on the window, sometimes it's my clothes, various things, and for whatever reason I don't/can't stop driving. I just have to hope I don't hit anything.
2)What is the best present you ever got?
I got a car for my college graduation, which, obviously was quite nice, but I still get a bigger kick out of some of the little things my kids give me. Like this one little girl who gets on my *last nerve* (you know the type) who came up one day and had drawn a picture of me as a wizard, because she knew I liked wizards. It said "The Wizard of [R] at the top and had my ferrets around me. Which just showed me that as much as she grated on my nerves, she still likes me. You know? (And that even when she doesn't seem to be listening, she is. :) She also gave me one where I was a mother penguin and the three ferrets were my baby penguins. I so couldn't explain why I laughed REALLY hard at that - she wouldn't understand Atlantis crack!fic.
3)What is the most spontaneous thing you've ever done?
Wow... I'm not over the top spontanious. I like having a plan. (I mean, seriously, I've been posting daily plans on my LJ to keep me on task.) But I guess last week when I decided 'what the hell' and booked myself a flight to Florida for a week to go to Vidcon and see my parents.
4)If you could meet anyone real, fictional, live or dead, who would it be?
I guess if you say 'meet' this has to be someone I don't know? 'Cause otherwise I'd see my Bubby again. Someone I never knew...? Mozart... there was a boy who knew how to party. ;)
5)What would your dream vacation be like if money were no issue?
I'd so totally do one of those three month cruise around the world things. That would be so completely awesome. Cruising just rocks and getting to see, basically, the whole world? Yeah!

Date: 2007-07-12 02:17 pm (UTC)Snackwells Devils Food cookies. I could eat them until I explode.
2)What is your favorite song?
I have a hard time just picking one, but I guess..."Wild Mountain Thyme". With a really close second place going to "O Holy Night".
3)What is your favorite RP moment?
Oh man, so hard to choose! But I think probably it would have to be one of Pogo and Jiji scenes from back in the early days of FH. Just because it was so much silly fun.
4)What was the worst trouble you ever got into?
I'll admit, I've always been pretty good at keeping out of trouble. I did get a trespassing warning once, with a couple of friends, when we were hanging out at the ampitheatre at a college campus. Sadly, we weren't doing anything except discussing musicals. Albeit a little loudly, for the hour of night that it was.
5)What cheers you up when you're feeling down?
Silly stuff. Like, someone saying or doing something silly -- a funny dance, or a link to a silly video, or just saying something goofy and absurd. Even in my darkest moods, I'm a sucker for absurdity.

5)What makes you laugh?
Re: Sorry!!!
Date: 2007-07-12 11:08 pm (UTC)Flowers. Fancy flowers, simple flowers, lots of flowers, a single flower, from the garden, from the store, it doesn't matter. I love getting flowers.
2)What would your dream house be like if money were no object?
It would be located on a piece of property large enough that we couldn't see our nearest neighbors. The property is wooded and sort of wild. The first floor is an open plan, one big great room, with large comfortable chairs, a fireplace, and a huge kitchen. The bedrooms are suites, with sitting rooms, breakfast bars, bathrooms with whirlpools and saunas, dressing rooms, and laundry facilities. There's an office for us to share, a workshop for hubby, a craft room, a gym, and a greenhouse garden for fresh flowers year round (See #1)
3)What would be your ideal job?
I love teaching, but the administration always makes me crazy. I think the wild idea a friend and I had years ago -- to open our own school -- might be cool. Or being independently wealthy, so I really had time to write.
4)Who were you closest to as a child and why?
My maternal grandfather -- Pop -- for reasons no one understands. He had taken no interest whatsoever, I'm told, in the raising of his nine children, but for whatever reason, he doted on me, and I adored him. I took refuge with him whenever my mother was being "cruel" to me. He took me on long stroller walks and stopped for snacks. He told corny jokes that I thought were hilarious. I think I was three.
5)What makes you laugh?
People who can laugh at themselves. Creative silliness. The younger of our two dogs trying to figure out how to help when the older what starts barking at animals on TV. (The older one can see television; the younger one can't.)
